Outside the capital, BLUE SKY TRAVEL is able to achieve wonderful balance between adventure and comfort with the use of ger camps. Traditional gers are the movable, domed structures used by nomads for centuries. Made of latticed wood structure covered with layers of felt and canvas, each ger is heated by a wood stove and furnished with beautifully painted wood-framed beds. Western-style toilet facilities and basic showers are located in a central building. These camps provide an authentic and memorable taste of Mongolian culture and allow you to visit areas which otherwise lack traveler accommodations.

Most travelers find their stays at ger camps to be among their most enjoyable experiences in Mongolia.

Tent Camps

For BLUE SKY TRAVEL’s more of the beaten path trips, we set up tent camps outfitted with sleeping bags and self inflating mats each day which allow us to explore even the most remote areas of the country.

Activities

The activities on our trips range from light walking in the capital to horse riding for an afternoon to hiking on high mountains for days. Please talk with any of our planners for a complete description of the activities involved on specific trips – BLUE SKY TRAVEL ensures you utmost comfort with the program you select.

Spontaneous visits with nomadic families and an appreciation for the vast and ever changing landscape make traveling through Mongolia as enjoyable  as reaching the destination. Our drivers are all the most experienced professionals with years of navigating skills – an absolute must for the many unmarked countryside roads.

Because almost all of the roads outside the capital are unpaved tracks, BLUE SKY TRAVEL ensures that our drivers tread lightly by driving on existing trails and avoiding  ecologically sensitive areas. We maneuver these trails, which are often quite rough and dusty, with our fleet of safari mini buses, versatile 4-wheel drive jeeps.
